Four more Grace Prep athletes have committed to continue their athletics careers at the next level – two each in the sports of baseball and boys basketball.

Teammates Kevin Pina and Garrett Vardeman will take their baseball prowess to North Lake College in Irving. The Blazers are part of the Dallas Athletic Conference and a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association. Pina is coming off a senior season in which he earned TAPPS District 3 first team honors with time spent at both first and third bases, as well as on the mound. This year while playing outfielder, Vardeman was named TAPPS Division III All State honorable mention, as well as District 3 Defensive Player of the Year and first team member.

Garrett Vardeman and Kevin Pina sign letters of intent to play baseball at North Lake College.

TAPPS 4A Boys Basketball District 3 MVP Evan McCarthy will be going to Wichita Falls where he will play for Midwestern State. MSU is a member of the NCAA Division II’s Lone Star Conference. McCarthy was integral in helping the Lions make their state championship run. His work on the court earned him all state first team honors, along with all-tournament and first team all-district accolades.

Myles McCrary, a two-year member of the TAPPS 4A all-tournament team, is heading the McPherson College located in McPherson, Kansas. The Bulldogs are a member of the NAIA’s Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference. This season, McCrary was named District 3 Defensive Player of the Year in addition to being named to both all-state and all-district first teams.

Congratulations to these young men and their families!
