Final Exam Exemption Info!

As we approach the end of the spring semester, we want to remind you of the qualifications for final exam exemptions for high school students.

On Monday, April 27, high school students will be notified of their eligibility to choose an exam exemption from one of their classes. On that day, students will receive a form that will communicate exemption information. Teachers will also email parents the information.

Students who qualify will return the form to their teacher by Friday, May 1, indicating which exam they wish to be exempt from. Qualifying for an exam exemption is based on three criteria:

  • No more than five excused absences and zero unexcused absences
  • No disciplinary actions above a Level 1
  • current grade of 90% or higher in the class they wish to exempt – this is calculated by averaging the student’s Term 3 grade and current grade

High school students who meet all qualifications will be allowed to exempt one final exam. Please note that AP classes are not eligible for exemptions. AP students will receive more information from their AP teacher.

For further clarification, the final exam policy is on page 31 of the Parent/Student Handbook.

Thank you for partnering with us as we encourage our students to finish the semester strong!
