From the Board
Grace Prep Family,
Now that the school year is fully underway, on behalf of the board, I want to welcome back all of the existing and new Grace Prep families to the start of another exciting year at Grace Prep Academy. Thank you for joining us for Parent Partnership Week, Back to Grace, and the informative parent summits. We strive to partner with parents to grow their children’s spiritual, academic, and extracurricular development.
With the completion of Lion Camp and Cub Camp, sports and studies are in full swing. An intentionally busy start to the year can initially feel overwhelming. However, please know that the early investment in helping students adjust to a new school year pays dividends in our students’ lives. Friendships are forged quickly; hopefully, everyone feels a sense of belonging.
At Grace Prep, we truly take our mission statement seriously. It reads: “GPA partners with parents to provide a Christ-centered, college preparatory education where students are allowed to further develop their God-given talents and virtues and become family-centric, college-worthy character witnesses for Christ.” The Grace Prep Board reads this mission statement at the beginning of each of our meetings after we open in prayer. It is meant to guide us and remind us of our purpose and how we can best foster the responsibilities we have been given to better serve the Grace Prep community. As with many things in life, it is very easy to say that we agree with or believe in something, but it’s not just merely vetted out by the words we say but, more importantly, by the actions we carry out. I am often humbled and reminded of the importance of this when reading 1st John 3:18, as John writes, “Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and truth.” Modern translation; talk is cheap. Being a Christian school, having a Christ-focused curriculum, and covering our walls in scripture are all great things, but we must not stop there; we must live it out in deed and truth as parents, staff, and most importantly, Christ followers. This is why we invest so much time up front and in the day-to-day activities of our children.
I draw attention to this because we, the board, realize there are many seemingly easier options for your children’s education. However, we want to encourage you. In choosing this model, your investment of time, energy, and resources in your children’s schooling will forever impact your family in an incredible way. You will never look back and say, “I wish I would have spent less time with my kids.” Yet, this is not to say that satellite days will not always be without challenges. Many successful businessmen, doctors, homemakers, realtors, etc., have been humbled by what seemed like rudimentary geometry, physics, and/or history questions. I have my own forehead-shaped dents on my kitchen table to prove it. But through the good and the hard, we persevere and see the fruits of our commitment on display in our children’s lives.
So, in light of this and much more, thank you for choosing Grace Prep. We look forward to another wonderful school year and will continue to develop and improve the experience for Grace Prep families.
Sincerely,
Cassidy Moore on behalf of the Grace Prep Board.
